HOW MUSIC STARTED? Music has no date of birth. It started even before humans existed. Nature creates music through the sounds of the trees, the water, the air, the leaves, the animals, and so much more. It came to human consciousness as early as 4000 BCE in Egypt. Egyptians created harps and flutes. In 3500 BCE, lyres and clarinets were developed.

In 2500 BCE, trumpets were invented in Denmark. The first trumpet was valve-less but created similar music. The guitar came to life in 1500 BCE.

The first ever recorded music was recovered in 800 BCE. It was written in cuneiform and was composed of religious prayers. In 700 BCE, vocals and instrumentals started. In 600 BCE, the famous mathematician Pythagoras developed octave scale – the keystone of modern music. Music flourished among Greeks. There have been music festivals.

The first ever trumpet competition was in 400 BCE. In 350 BCE, Aristotle wrote the theory of music and developed the method of notation. These were brought to Western Europe in 521 CE.

In 600 CE, the first music in Europe was established. Music also progressed in China in 612 CE. Orchestras of musicians started performing. In 1650 CE, a new notation system of writing music was developed. In 800 CE, poems and psalms are set to music in 800 CE.

Guido D'Arezzo also made improvements in music theory. He invented do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do – this changed music forever.
